As a watchmaking company headquartered in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland, Daniel Roth has been making watches aptly described as works of art and innovative timepieces since 1989. Bearing the name of its founder, there is no doubt that Daniel Roth, despite the fact that it is still a relatively young company, is one of the most adored luxury brands.

Daniel Roth, the man behind the brand, has already been recognized by a number of watch collectors for his works. However, it was not until 1989, when he launched his first watch under the brand, that the rest of the world took notice of his craftsmanship. Daniel Roth could not have chosen a better watch to unveil. The Tourbillon Double Face was truly a result of fine craftsmanship. The watch had a mechanical hand-wound movement as well as a 40-hour power reserve. Even though these were impressive enough, the watch had more distinguishing features such as the hand-embellished movement, the dials made discernible by two sapphire crystals, and the exclusive case shape. The Tourbillon Double Face was restricted to 250 pieces effectively putting the brand in line with other luxury brands.

It took a while before Daniel Roth launched another great watch—the Instantaneous Perpetual Calendar. It was nine years after Tourbillon Double Face was introduced to the public but it was certainly worth the wait. A typical calendar mechanical watch only changes the date, hour, and day functions every three to four hours. The Instantaneous Perpetual Calendar, on the other hand, changes these three functions in an instant, hence the name. This high-quality timepiece requires lots of attention and as such only 20 pieces are sold per year.

There are more great watches manufactured under the Daniel Roth brand. A case in point is the Westminster Grande Sonnerie Carillon, the only automatic four-gong chiming wristwatch in production. Although the brand has been acquired by the Bulgari Group in 2001, it still continues to create watches that people come to expect from Daniel Roth—timepieces that are exclusively designed, intricately crafted, and highly progressive.
