The IWC was established by an American, F.A. Jones in 1868 with the intention of combining the craftsmanship of the Swiss with the modern engineering technology in the U.S. to manufacture movements and watch parts for the American market. Given the relatively lower price of labor in Switzerland at the time coupled with a ready supply of watchmaking expertise, the factory was set up in Schaffhausen and work immediately began in around 1869.
The IWC produces some of the finest watches in the world, brought about by its solid technical capacity as well as its refined and revolutionary techniques. This is one of the company's hallmarks in the sense that the craftsmanship of IWC workers is a marriage of both technical skill as well as overall knowledge of the machinery needed to produce the high-quality watches.
This was most evident during the rise of IWC when its business model shifted from fully-electric models to creating more traditional mechanical pieces. This required the realization that the watchmaking craft was slowly evolving into a hybrid discipline of precision mechanics and electronics. IWC watches are known to mirror these principles, giving a wearer both precision and quality which lasts longer than a lifetime.
We broker watches, especially IWC watches and timepieces, whose craftsmanship and unique approach to watchmaking makes their watches unique and in a class of their own. We guarantee good appraisal values and guarantee the safest handling that watches such as your IWC deserve.
