Another Swiss watch company was founded in 1894 by two accomplished watchmakers—Numa Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret. The two, being knowledgeable not only in watchmaking but also the marketing of watches, decided to produce only watches which capitalize on complexity. Almost immediately after the company was established, Universal Genève watches were greatly received by its clients. This cemented their tradition of creating watches of complex technology and elegant design.

Three years after the company was formed, one of the founders passed away and Perret went partner with another talented watchmaker, Louis Edouard Berthoud. Together, they manufactured pocket-watches. A year later, they unveiled the Universal Watch Extra, a chronograph with 30-counter. Almost twenty years later, Universal Genève launched their very first chronograph wristwatch.
Although the company was already successful in its own right, it thrived even more by 1934. The relocation to Geneva proved to be a good move. Of course, the relocation was not the only reason behind the company's triumph. Several new watches were released during this time—the Compax, Aero-Compax, and Tri-Compax in the 1930s to early 1940s, the Polerouter in 1954, and the Microtor UG 66 in 1966. All these watches bore the Universal Genève trademark - complicated and elegant.
By 1975, Universal Genève introduced the thinnest quartz calibre in the world and it became the starting point of the brand's international recognition. It began in Southeast Asia, then to Middle East, and finally to Europe, gaining particular popularity in Italy.
Gaining worldwide recognition did not stop Universal Genève from outdoing their previous releases. Inspired by their past successes, they continued to produce complicated watches such as the Microtor UG 100 and the Calibre UG 101.
The latest release under the brand was in 2008, exactly 80 years after Universal Genève created Cabriolet, its very first reversible watch. To commemorate said watch Universal Genève launched the Microtor Cabriolet, a shaped timepiece unique for its contemporary design.
