When it comes to jewelry and watches, one brand is easily recognized than others. The name Van Cleef & Arpels is synonymous to words such as elegant, superb, and tasteful, the very things you hope your jewelry watch to be.

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in 1896 when Esther Arpels, the daughter of a precious stone dealer Salomon, got married to Alfred Van Cleef, a person coming from a family of steel merchants. As what can be expected from the union of two families who make a living from gems and steels, father and son-in-law decided to be in the jewelry business that same year. It took a while but they finally had the Van Cleef & Arpels trademark registered in 1906. Soon after, Van Cleef's brothers-in-law—Salomon, Jules, and Louis—joined in the venture.

Even though Van Cleef died in 1938, Van Cleef & Arpels continued to thrive. In fact, the company was well on its way to becoming one of the most credible names in the industry. They opened shops in places like Deauville, Nice, and Monte-Carlo. By 1942, the family emigrated to the United States of America and decided to open another boutique in New York, on 5th Avenue, cementing Van Cleef & Arpels's status as a high end jewelry company. It was not long before the company had shops in Asian countries like Japan and China as well.

While Van Cleef & Arpels is known mainly for its jewelry collection, there is no doubt that watches under the brand are premium quality. As creators of watches that can be used not just for telling time but more so to adorn one's wrists, most, if not all, of Van Cleef & Arpels timepieces garnered many praises. To name a few, there is the first leather-strapped watch made in yellow or white gold, the Cadenas wristwatch with its unique padlock design, and the P.A. 49, a round watch with an ultra-slim case.

Not every watch is as beautiful as it is functional. Not every watch can have the Van Cleef & Arpels trademark. WeBuyWatches.com is ready to find a buyer for your Van Cleef and Arpels watch today. To start the process, fill out the FREE Watch Appraisal Form.
